High School Band Competes at MetroCenter in Arlington The Valley Mills Band compteted this past Saturday, May 15, 2010 in Arlington at the MetroCenter. They placed runner up for Best in Class. COngratulations Band!!! Friday night, they attended the dinner performance at Medieval Times. Saturday, they enjoyed visiting Six Flags Over Texas. | ||||

![]() Valley Mills HS Band Earns UIL Concert/SR Sweepstakes The Valley Mills Eagle Band competed Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Region 8 UIL Concert Contest in Groesbeck. The earned straight One's in concert and a 1, 1, 2 in sightreading, resulting in a sweepstakes award for this event. Their selections included Valdres, Russian Sailors' Dance and Phantom Ship. They mad great improvement over the McGregor contest only a week prior to this event. 15 bands in conference 1-A were entered in Region 8 Concert/Sightreading contest. Only 5 earned 1st Division on stage. Only 5 earned a 1st Division in Sightreading. Valley Mills, Itasca, Holland, Italy and Iola were the only 1-A Bands in Region 8 to earn a sweepstakes for this competition. Congratulations to all of these schools as well to all who entered. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE EAGLE BAND MEMBERS!!!! |
Valley Mills Band Competes at McGregor Pre-UIL Concert Contest The Valley Mills HS Band competed at McGregor HS on February 25, 2010. Their contest selctions included Valdres, Russian Sailor's Dance and Phantom Ship. The band earned a 1st division, a division higher than last year. A couple of the judges made a reference to this improvement. The band students should be commended for their efforts. The band will compete in the UIL Region 8 Concert Sightreading Contest in Grosebeck on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 9:30 AM. The performance is open to the public. |
![]() Four Valley Mills High School Students Compete at UIL Solo and Ensemble Kasey Beers, Manda Hufstedler, Brandon Markwardt and Cameron Rodriguez performed a solo with accompanist Rochelle Orwig at the Region 8 UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in Waco on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Kasey and Manda earned a first division rating on Menuett Paysanne on flute. Brandon earned a second division rating on Honor and Arms on Tuba. Cameron earned a second division rating on Hi Ho Simpson on Snare Drum. In doing so, these students have increased their skills as musicians as well as increase their value to both tthe Valley Mills schools and their personal value to colleges in terms of scholarships. As more students get involved, the quality of our program will also improve. |
![]() As the result of the Area auditions held at Robinson HS on Saturday, Jan 9, 2010, Maria Aleman has earned a chair in the 2010 ATSSB All State Band. She will attend the clinic/concert which is a part of the TMEA annual convention in San Antonio. The concert will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Grand Hyatt Texas Ballroom at 2:00 PM. Maria has done well in representing the Valley Mills schools and community. |

"From the Top Concert at Baylor, November 11, 2009" Some of our high school band members attended this recital on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 7 PM at Jones Hall at Baylor University. This show is featured weekly on public radio (KWBU 103.3 FM in Waco) and features high school students from all across our country. Unlike most concerts, our students will be able to observe the process in which the show is actually produced for radio broadcast.

The Valley Mills Eagle Pride Band at UIL Marching Contest The Valley Mills Eagle Band earned a 2nd Division at UIL Marching Contest Wednesday, Oct 21 at La Vega. The band gave its best performance of the year. They performed selections from Pictures at an Exhibition, making adjustments to match the original orchestral version by Modest Moussorgsky. The band has made much progress over the past year. The performance level and drill requirements have also increased greatly. The band will be working on its final performances for this year's marching season and moving into the concert season.

The Eagle Pride Band Competes at Teague Marching Festival 2009
The Eagle Pride Band competed Saturday, October 10, at the 9th Annual Teague Marching Festival. The band performed at 4:00 earning a 2nd Division rating and placing 2nd in Class 1A. Their show included selections from Moussourgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. This was their finest performance of the year and hopefully will continue to rise to even a higher level before UIL contest in La Vega on Wednesday, October 21. Everyone is encouraged to come watch and support our Eagle Pride Band. |
