THE EAGLE’S VIEW

 

I am excited about my role as principal for Valley Mills Elementary.  I look forward to working with everyone involved in the education of our children here in Valley Mills.  This is truly a great place to be— to live, and to raise and educate children.

 

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIMES

School starts promptly at 8:00 A.M. The front door of the cafeteria locks when the 8:00 A.M. bell rings. Students who do not arrive in time to enter through the cafeteria doors will be escorted to the front office for a tardy slip.   School dismisses at 3:00 P.M. for bus riders, bike riders, and walkers.  Car pick up starts at 3:10 P.M. and all car riders should be picked up no later than 3:30 P.M.  Students not picked up by 3:30 P.M. will be sent to the after school program and parents will be assessed the daily rate.  Please make sure your children arrive to school on time and are picked up on time after school.  If there are any changes to your child’s normal dismissal routine notify the office by 2:00 P.M. at 932-5526.

 

CAR ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE DIRECTIONS:

Please do not park and get out of your vehicle in the drive through area.  Try to have your child (ren) on the school side of the vehicle and our staff will assist with helping them out of the vehicle.  The drive through is not two lane so do not pass other vehicles on the left side.   If your child is a car rider it would be so much easier if as a parent you would let our staff  bring your child (ren) to the vehicle rather than park and come in to get your child.  Not only does this cause congestion in the front area of the cafeteria, it also slows down traffic due to pedestrians crossing.  We would appreciate it, if parents who come in to pick up children would give the drive through a try, so we can we can manage the dismissal system more smoothly.  Thank you for helping us be more efficient in our dismissal system.

 

CAFETERIA

If your child eats breakfast and/or lunch in the cafeteria those meals need to be paid for daily.  Please take care of all charges in the cafeteria. 

 

ICECREAM, YOU SCREAM, WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICECREAM

Ice cream sales will start Wednesday, September 8, 2010.  Ice cream will be $1 and students must bring money on the days that it is sold.  Ice cream cannot be charged or paid for ahead of time.

 

DRESS CODE

Make sure your child does not wear sleeveless shirts, spaghetti strap tops, flip flops, backless shoes, or jeans with holes to school.  These have been the only dress code issues noticed during the first couple of weeks of school.

 

 AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Valley Mills Elementary offers an after school program from 3:30-5:45 P.M. each school day except early release days and student/staff holidays.  If a parent is interested in after school care, he/she must fill out a form and prepay before a child can attend.  Forms can be picked up at the elementary office or accessed from our website:  www.vmisd.net.

 

CHEERLEADER UNIFORMS

Cheerleader uniforms may be worn on Fridays as long as they have bloomers or shorts under them.  These are the only  exception to the sleeveless rule, but only on Fridays during football season.  GO EAGLES!
